A Letter From Rose
Remember When Getting Dressed Used to Make You Smile?
Bright colors, a relaxed fit and a hood for chilly mornings. The Amanda brought a little sunshine back into my closet.
Close your eyes for a moment. It's a cool morning, you're on the porch with your first cup of coffee, and your grandchildren come running up the path. "Grandma, you look like a rainbow!" Your neighbor waves from across the street and calls out that she loves your top. You laugh, and you feel bright, and seen.
Most of the women I know quietly gave that feeling up somewhere around sixty. Their closets slowly turned gray, beige and navy. Not because they stopped loving color, but because they worried it would look too loud, or too young. And most hoodies are either made for the gym or cling across the stomach in all the wrong places.
I don't think we should have to disappear to dress our age.
Two sisters, one little boutique
Olivia and I grew up near Lake Como, where our grandmother taught us to look at clothes the way you look at something you plan to keep for years: the fabric, the seams, the way it moves when you walk. We both became fashion designers in Italy, and nearly 45 years ago we followed our hearts to Florida and opened our boutique.
Since then, so many women have come through our door telling us the same thing: "Nothing is made for me anymore." Too young, too tight, or so plain you feel invisible. Finding the pieces that are made for the women we actually know, women in their sixties and seventies with full lives, became our life's work.
Every piece has to pass two tests
I want to be honest with you: I didn't design the Amanda. These days Olivia and I hand-pick the pieces for our boutique, and every one of them has to pass two tests.
Olivia's test is the fit, the fabric and the finish. Is it comfortable, is it made properly, will it still look good after a season of wear? My test is the woman wearing it. Does it flatter her, does it make her feel like herself, and where will she wear it? Most pieces fail one of the two and go straight back.
I'll admit I almost passed on this one, because I thought it was far too bright for us. Olivia turned it inside out, looked at the seams and the hood, and said: "This one is made properly." Then I pulled it on in front of the mirror and laughed out loud. I looked like spring. Here's why it passed both tests.
Color that lifts your mood, without feeling loud

The front of the Amanda has a big, sunny yellow sun on the chest, with rays fanning out in orange, pink, teal, purple and green. Across the sleeves and the side you'll find little patchwork blocks of florals, dots and paisley. It looks like a handmade quilt your grandmother might have made: artistic and cheerful, never like a costume.
★★★★★"I've spent years wearing gray, beige, and navy because I worried bright colors would feel too much at my age. This hoodie changed my mind. The patchwork print is cheerful and full of color, but it still feels tasteful and artistic rather than loud. It really does brighten my whole mood."
Joan M., Sedona, AZ
A relaxed fit that falls easily over your middle

This is the part Olivia checked first. So many tops pull across the stomach and hips, and you spend the day tugging them down. The Amanda has a relaxed, easy shape that falls over your middle without clinging, so you can simply put it on and stop thinking about it.
★★★★★"At 67, I'm very careful with tops that pull across my stomach or hips. What I love about this hoodie is the looser shape. It falls comfortably over my middle without feeling tight, and I don't have to keep tugging it down. It feels easy and flattering."

Comfortable from morning coffee to an afternoon with the grandchildren

A piece this cheerful shouldn't stay in the closet for special occasions. The Amanda is made to be lived in: pull it on for your morning walk, keep it on for lunch in town, and you're still comfortable when the grandchildren want to play in the garden.
★★★★★"I wanted something cheerful I could actually live in, not just admire in the closet. I wore this from my morning coffee straight through an afternoon with the grandchildren, and I felt comfortable the whole time. It has that easy, everyday feel while still looking special."
Eleanor J., Boise, ID
Cozy on cool mornings

Here in Florida we wait all year for those crisp mornings. The Amanda has a hood with a drawstring and long sleeves, so you can throw it on when there's a little bite in the air, pull the hood up on the porch, and let it fall back once the sun warms up.
★★★★"I like having something I can throw on when the mornings are chilly. The hood and drawstrings make it feel cozy, and the long sleeves are just right when there's a little bite in the air. It's become one of those pieces I reach for without thinking."
Nadine R., Franklin, TN
Simple jeans, and the hoodie does the rest
You don't need to plan an outfit around it. Pair the Amanda with your favorite jeans or a solid pair of trousers and a simple pair of sneakers, and you're done. The print does all the work, so you look put together without any fuss.
★★★★★"I used to think a colorful hoodie would be hard to wear, but it's surprisingly easy. I pair mine with simple jeans or a solid pair of pants and it does all the work for me. It makes me feel more put together without needing to fuss over an outfit."
Carole B., Medford, OR
Made for you, from XS to 3XL
We carry the Amanda from XS all the way to 3XL, in this one joyful print. My advice: check the size chart before you order, and if you're between sizes and like it roomy, go up. And if it isn't right, you have 30 days to send it back.
★★★★★"I'm 60 and usually hesitate before ordering online because sizing can be hit or miss. I appreciate that this comes in a wide size range and that there's a size chart and return window to make the decision easier. It gave me much more confidence to try something fun and different."
Sherry D., Lafayette, LA
The Amanda, against the hoodies you usually find
Why it's only $54.95 right now
After nearly 45 years in America, Olivia and I have decided it's time to retire from the boutique and spend more time with our husbands, our children and our grandchildren here in Florida.
The Amanda is part of our final collection. When a size is gone, we won't be restocking it. So instead of carrying it into another season, we're saying goodbye to it with our Retirement Sale.

I don't usually write letters like this. But after a lifetime in fashion, I know when a piece is worth telling you about. If your closet has slowly turned gray, I hope you find your size before it's gone, and bring a little sunshine back.
Thank you for giving two Italian sisters a home, a community and a lifetime of memories here in Florida.
With love, Rose 🤍
